This study analyzes the effect of converting Fagus crenata wood into a wood–steel mesh–adhesive multimaterial on its acoustic anisotropy. Using non-destructive ultrasonic testing, wave velocities in the tangential and longitudinal directions were compared between solid wood and the multimaterial. The multimaterial exhibited higher density, a 91% increase in tangential velocity, and a 26% decrease in longitudinal velocity. Consequently, the acoustic anisotropy coefficient was reduced from 3.18 to 1.29, demonstrating a marked homogenization of acoustic properties and a more isotropic behavior.
